Who does not know Nawaf Al-Daqs at the University of Jordan?!
He is the man whose dedication has never waned since his appointment at the University of Jordan forty years ago. Throughout these years, he has been distinguished by sincerity in his work, devotion, and kindness in dealing with everyone. He spent most of this long journey on campus, until the University of Jordan became an inseparable part of him, and a strong bond was formed between them—one that can never be undone. As he himself describes it: “The University of Jordan is my home.”
Yes, it is Nawaf—the first to arrive at work and the last to leave. On many occasions, he would work continuously from one day into the next, never leaving his place before completing his assigned tasks in the best and most perfect manner.
Yes, it is Nawaf, who joined the University of Jordan in 1983 at the age of twenty-two, coinciding with the establishment of the Computer Center, which was then located in the Faculty of Science / Physics Building before moving to its current premises.
Al-Daqs witnessed the rapid technological evolution of the University of Jordan—from the era of punched paper cards used for data entry to the advanced technologies we see today. Throughout this entire period, no one ever imagined Nawaf and the Computer Center as separate entities. He devoted his entire career to the Center, leaving a profound impact on everyone who joined it. Whenever former employees or previous directors meet any member of the Center, the conversation always begins by asking about Nawaf Al-Daqs and his well-being—before asking about technological developments. This is because people come first, and Al-Daqs has always been the one who creates a comfortable working environment for his colleagues, providing them with both material and moral support to help them perform their duties effectively.
It is also worth mentioning that with the launch of the Employee of the Month initiative in December 2023 at the Information Technology Center—an idea introduced by the Center’s Director, whereby the selected employee’s photo is published on the Center’s website—staff members were asked to nominate the distinguished employee. Without hesitation, and with unanimous agreement, everyone called out one name:
“Nawaf… Nawaf… Nawaf.”
Who else receives such unanimous consensus? This recognition is not limited to the Computer Center alone; its echo extends across the University of Jordan beyond the Center.
Congratulations to us for having Nawaf, and congratulations to Nawaf Al-Daqs for the legacy he will leave in our hearts and in the history of the University of Jordan—a university whose growth and prosperity have been interwoven with a significant part of his life and tireless efforts. Nawaf reached the age of sixty at the beginning of 2023.
May God grant our brother and colleague Nawaf Al-Daqs a long life and reward him abundantly on behalf of the University of Jordan and all its members.
